The Closet Astrologer

Tomorrow Pluto leaves the house of Capricorn and enters Aquarius where it will stay for the next 20 years. Or so I have been told. It seemed an appropriate time to revisit the previous 16 years when Pluto hung around in Capricorn. In 2008. When I was just 38.

Seems like a lifetime ago. In many ways, it was.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, it seems appropriate to review these years and pay homage to the person I was and the woman I am today. To the triumphs, defeats, joys, hurts, and life lived. Sometimes well and many times just doing the best one can with the current situation.

It's time to put the mirror up and take a hard look at who I have become. Certainly, there are more wrinkles, and grey hair. I have to wear readers now and tweeze those stray chin hairs when they appear. Yes, chin hairs. But what about the woman underneath? How is she doing?

Well, she has had to work hard to learn certain lessons. And to unlearn behavioral patterns. It's true, you know, that God just keeps placing you in the same situation until you learn the lesson He is teaching. Wish I had understood that sooner. Trusting myself and others again. Not chasing love or approval from people who never give it. Finding self- validation. Understanding not everyone is comfortable with the person you are becoming. Loving them anyway. Outgrowing friends, being left behind by others.

The list goes on and on.

So, how is she doing? Overall, considering the depths of despair she has dived and the mountain moments she has peaked since 2008 until today, she is content. Content with the authenticity she has achieved. She deserves a pat on the back for a job well-done.

But she is not done yet.

She is just beginning.

Like Pluto in Aquarius, she has 20 years to live a life of introspection, embracing change, enhancing community, and being both innovative and creative. She is being given permission to be the strange, wonderful, and colorful creature she wants and is meant to be.

What about you? Will you join me?

Light and love this Grateful Season.
